Backfire sound at end of hook

do you bump it up into neutral when you spin out? there is a really hot running dmax around here that was doing some tranny testing one night and at the end of his runs it was either downshifting and throwing the R's way up or going to neutral, and it was pop like that and even shot a flame out the stack.

how does the rev limiter work with EFILive? is it disabled, raised etc?
 
The rev limiter is raised. I have looked at the logger on my edge and the highest rpm is around 3800. I reset it each hook. I am sure it is only hitting that rpm when it shifts. I always bump to neutral at the end, but it made that noise before I bumped to neutral. It has done it once before and it killed the motor.
