swapped injectors over the weekend and just realized diesel is dripping down above the starter (drivers side of engine). tightened up all the injector lines and still leaking pretty good. no leak from the FASS fuel line or from the injection pump. any ideas where the diesel is leaking from??

Look at the return line on the back of the head, you will need a mirror to see it.

i did the brain fart one day and tightened up the injectors before the tubes and mine leaked from 5 and 6. hard to see but could see it on the pavement and noticed the truck had a really mean idle.

i had a small leak from #2...it was difficult to get off with the wrench but threaded back on almost all the way with the fingers. it doesnt leak anymore and runs good. i dont think the injector line was sitting in the tube correctly.

check the return line on back of the head and check the tee in line for the return side.. i had an issue with that after changing mine on my 99.

okay i spoke too soon...its still leaking a little from #2 at the line, just not as bad. where do i go from here??

right at the head...a buddy of mine had this problem when he clamped down his lines before he threaded them back into the head. he said it elongated the seat of that injector line and it wouldnt sit in the tube right.

#2 injector line from cummins is $80

Is it leaking where the line goes into the threaded fitting, or is it leaking from the head where the fitting threads into?

its too hard to tell b/c it just runs down very slowly...its not squirting out anywhere obvious. i dont think anything is cross threaded b/c i got it tightened up real easy with my fingers then it only took a couple turns of the wrench to get it tight...

Wipe off the head around the fitting, and then start the truck. If it looks like fuel is seeping out of the block, it is more than likely leaking from the threads. If it is you probably need a new o-ring on that crossover tube. I had 3 leak like that after my last injector swap, pulled the crossover tubes and the o-rings looked fine, decided to replace them anyway since I had them and the tubes were already out. My leak went away when put back together. Those were the original o-rings and had been out a few times before, it only takes a very tiny nick in the o-ring for it to leak.

i checked the o-ring and it SEEMED to be okay...they are brand new crossover tubes with new rings but ill try that first since its cheaper than an $80 line.

if a new oring on the tube doesnt stop the leaking, what should i look at next?? the line?

well i replaced the oring on the #2 tube and SO FAR so good. i drove around for about 10 minutes and still no leak. if it checks out good tomorrow, ill be taking the $80 injector line back to cummins.
