I can put a bar under the front tires and pry up and down. The spindle will move up and down about ...let's say...around .050 to .100 inches (guess). My question is, can the ball joint be good and this movement be normal or should they not move up and down at all (only spin)? Do I need to drop $300+ for all new ball joints or not? Moog?

Inquiring minds want to know.

:thankyou2:

You must have missed my post in your tire thread. Don't do moogs. Look up the xrfs.
and it sounds like you're past due if you have that much movement.

Sorry, I've slept since then. LOL My memory only remembers about 5 minutes a day.

Cocaine is a helll of a drug!

U can probably grease them to get a bit more life out of em... Until u can save up for the nice ones...only good thing about moog joints is they are lifetime warranty..but they are over priced for what they are

Cool. I'll probably run them and just keep tabs on them. I was under the impression they shouldn't have any play at all....but I never take the dealer's word for it.

I have more than what you have, might be why my tires are chopping. Looking into getting a set if they have them for a third gen.

I also found today the lower control arm on the driver's side has a metal bushing sleeve that is torn and last night I noticed my carrier bearing grommet material is detroying itself. Dam this truck. LOL

I have seen ball joints with prob 1/4" of slop. It would be nice to have minimal in them, but with the cheap design, what do you expect.

doubtful on the lower joint being greaseable... the ujoint takes up to much space inside the knuckle leaving little room for a zirc fitting let alone space to get a grease gun in there

moog's lower has a grease fitting. installs after you install the ball joint. sticks out on a pretty sharp angle. you have to watch how you install the ball joint so you can get to it with a grease gun.
