I bought a bd steering stabilizer the other day for my 01 2wd and it doesnt fit my steering box. I dont know if i ordered the wrong one or if im skipping a step in installing it. Has anyone ever had this problem before?

Are you sure that you bought the one for a 2wd? Should be part #1032002

If you have a 2wd chassis cab, you need the 4x4 steering stablizer. Judging by your picture, that's what it looks like.

It has a solid front axle but when i ask bd which one i need they told me the 2wd stablizer would work.

got a dumb question what is the diffence between the truck black biablo has and a regular 2wd, besides he has a solid front axle. would the steering hold up better under heavy use

When i bought the truck the owner told me that the front end is alot more durable than regular 2wd. It drives like a 4wd and sits just as high. I've heard that they hold up better under heavy use but i never owned a regular 2wd to compare.

I don't think it's a dumb question, no one even talks about this! When you put a load on a solid axle there isn't give in the steering system like there is with IFS. With this give in the steering system, the steering is obviously effected but it creates a domino effect. Tires start to wear un-even, more stress is put on the steering parts, steering geometry is altered, leading to more stress, etc.

However these trucks are set up to haul though, so it takes quiet a bit of weight for this to be a issue. However, I imagine a heavy 5th wheel trailer would be enough.

since this is a good thing do the newer ones come with a solid front axle as well

Are yall sure the 4x4 steering stabilizer will fit on my truck because i just talked to the company that i bought it from and they tell me it wont work either.

I'm about 90% sure that the front suspension on your truck is the same as a 4x4 only with a straight tube axle. So the 4x4 version should bolt right on. That is, if we're talking about the truck pictured in your avatar.

The 2nd Gen Cab Chassis are rare. But all the steering parts, frame, suspension are all the same as a 4x4. That's why these are the easiest to do a 4x4 conversion, because all the parts are sitting on a shelf. That's makes me 99.99% sure. I'm not 100% on anything in my life.

I agree with the rest, if the steering on this truck is set up the same as a 4x4 then I don't see why it would'nt work. If they'll let you send it back and get your money back or switch out then at least it won't put you under for getting the wrong one.

I think they are hearing 2wd and getting hung up on that part. As others have said, if the truck in your avatar is what you are buying for you need the stabilizer for a 4wd.
