Best Auto For My Application

alright guys my truck is a 5 speed and im sick and tired of shifting it with the damn dual disk, i want to do an auto swap. i am not familiar with automatics, so my question is what would be the best transmission to support a little over 500rwp? and still be reliable to tow my 10,000 lb toy hauler and be able to drag race. i only tow a couple times a year so im mainly concerned about racing it.

Call some vendors and talk to em. Any of the major tranny vendors could build a tranny that would work well for your needs.

There isn't a "best" tranny.
 
Oooo, popularity contest thread!

I vote for an ATS trans with a Goerend converter, Suncoast valve body and DTT shafts.
 
I say Georend...and for that advice I'll take that 5 speed off your hands.
 
I love my DTT. My second choice would be suncoast and then goerend. All 3 can build you a solid tranny.
 
Goerend's convertor and VB have taken all that I have thrown at them.
 
thanks for the responces guys, ill call up some of the vendors you stated above. when i get it all in i will have 2 nv4500's for sale plus a sb dd 3600 street clutch
