Best year for the duramax

I'm needing to know what you guys have experienced between the years in the duramax. I know nothing about them except my brother has an 06 with the 6spd auto that is pretty bad ace. I'm a dodge guy and looking at buying a dirty so any advice is appreciated in terms of what to look for, what not, what to expect, etc. I've been looking at 06 and up...

If you are looking for 06+ Duramax trucks, there aren't many changes unless you get a new body style truck with the LMM, then they are about the same tuning wise but have the DPF stuff to fuss with. In 06 there are LLY's and LBZs. The 06 LLY is a tuned down LBZ. It might, have a different charger but I don't think so. Just the tuning is all thats different. What fits an LBZ will fit an 06 LLY. Any of the programmers will "turn it into an LBZ" so to speak. They have 6spd aut transmissions with no option for a manual trans.

extra cabs can be noisier inside compared to crew cabs due to less than stellar sealing with the extra cab doors. This nothing new and not the big of deal but noteable IMO.

Thanks for the info. My buddy wants me to get a lmm but I don't know if I want to deal with the dpf stuff...
 
Screw emissions. That stuff is a pain in the butt.

And onstar is for drivers who don't know how to read a map. You do know how to read a map, don't you?

Know how??? yes....want to??? no...plus they give you phone numbers, unlock your truck...etc...man I just want a more luxurious truck...

get an 06 or 07 classic new body styles are fugly
