I am in the process of building up a motor with 1000+ hp in mind. I have 2 sets of rods i am choosing between.

First set was made in mexico in 97. have around 100K miles on them. the last 8000 were at around 300 rwhp otherwise all miles on stock engine.

Set #2 were made in brazil in 92 and have unknown miles on them. have been up to 633 rwhp.

on monday i am taking them to a machine shop to have them polished, and peened.

So is there any difference between the 2 sets that would make me want to use the older brazil rods or should i just use the newer ones?

thanks.

At the risk of sounding like an asshole...why if you are building a 1000 HP truck would you try to save money by using used parts?

I am probably missing something in my thought train to try to understand this, so please explain.

Nothing wrong with used rods. Get them checked fro straitness and cracks and your good to go. Then polish, peen, cryro.

There was a thread on here comparing Brazil vs Mexico vs England rods. Cant find it now.

I had a set of englands the my friends used to hang off their trailer hitches.....

Ill be using brazil's in my pulling engine, mexico's in the tow rig.
