Hey guys, I ordered a Napa BHAF for my truck.. . should be here tomorrow. I wanted to go ahead and order a pre filter wrap from outerwear but I have a couple of questions if one of you guys could help me out here! Got on the website. . and as far as I can tell I will have to have it custom made, so, what are the demensions for this thing???

If you Comp-D member Oil-Burner a PM he will be able to fix you up.He usually has them in stock or can have them in a day or so.

The proper Outerwears number you want is 20-1085 and they used to be available in some colors, however,I do not know now if they are or not. Here is a shot of the underhood of mine from way back in 2004 showing the BHAF/Mallory Mount and Pre-Filter....Andy

I ended up finding exactly what I needed on the website and ordered it. Intake looks good, does anyone have any templates or anything for a box/heat shield?? I was thinking about usin some diamond plate....feedback??

Do you really need a heat shield in there? I have my homemade intake also but just removed the box and added the filter and did not use a heat shield because there is so much room in there. It'll be good to hear what you all think. It would be easy enough to make.

Well it's probably not nessesary but it couldn't hurt. The Cooler the air I can suck in the better and I figured it would be better on my filter & prefilter to keep the heat away. Plus I think the diamond plate would look pretty cool :rockwoot:
I would love to see everybody's homemade intake pics and some feedback on making this box/heatshield

I don't understand why you wouldn't just buy a quality filter that flows and sounds better

Forrest....
I have asked that for years and never got a good answer either.
I used the BHAF at the beginning until I AFE came out with their Stage 2 and I bought it.All they look at is cheap and its not just here with a air filter its with other mods also.At times I am baffled with why guys feel that cheap or free is the way to go and in the long run they end up spending the money they should have in the first place.

Ah well..
The heatshield on the photo in mine was made by a TDR member along time ago and they are no longer made. They used to have a a template on the old Cummins database and I am not sure if its there or not......Andy

my deal is you pay $40 for a paper filter that needs to be REPLACED...

when you can pony up $20-30 more and get a filter that never needs to be replaced, flows better, and lets the turbo really scream...

I ran one WAY back in the day... I thought I was hearing the turbo untill someone clued me into a quality aftermarket filter!

I am not sure if the cheap comment is in reguards to my homemade intake system or the other guys BHAF filter. I am running the new AFE filter on mine and love it.
