I have never tried high side. Do I need the extra wheel speed? Will it help or hurt? Here are the calculations I came up with. I have never snuffed the charger at the end of a pull. Open for ideas.

3rd gear low side
mph rpm
31 4195
28 3789
25 3383
22 2977
33 tire dia

1st gear high side

mph rpm
37 4637
34 4261
31 3885
28 3509
25 3133
33 tire dia

Last year at Stoneboro and Shelbyville I pulled 1st high. Worked good. I could only do it on slippery or loose tracks. Low side on good tracks. Last I new we had darn near the same power to the wheels so it should apply. What RPM do you carry down track? I was around 3500 last season.

Yeh Johnboy about the same rpm. I missed my opertunity on Friday with the first hook. I was afraid the track was too greasy and it would just spin. I would have come back sixth, not last. kept the hook and hung on for 3rd.

Kevin with what rear gear are them calculations for?

It worked best at Stoneboro. I spun the tires on purpose but the sled was light. At Shelbyville I rode the clutch out some and it hooked up a little to good. I should have come out harder IMHO. I am hoping to run 1st high on tight tracks and 4th 1:1 on loose tracks with the built engine and GT42.

Kevin i am not sure id try 1rst high with the 3600 plate id call peter first and discuss it
