Hay guys I'm new to this site I have a 2000 ram 2500 and I'm not having any luck with the head gasket on it this will be my forth time doing it I have ARP studs the head was decked to make it true but I keep pushing the front of the gasket out can any one help:bang

how long are the gaskets lasting? are you beating the living piss out of it right after you do it?

It blows out right in the middle then leaks oil like crazy. After i put a new gasket in I usually drive it really nice for a week or two then retorque the head then slowly start putting the boost to it the last head gasket last maybe two months

the way I retorqued mine is I did the inital torque, started the truck let it go through a heat cycle then let it cool down completley, retorqued, then drive it easy for a few hundred and retorque again, everyone I asked said thats how they did it and its worked for them, also, on the first torque did you do it in steps up to final spec, and did you torque in the right pattern so the head gets tightened evenly?

if he installed it correctly, my guess would be block needs to be decked!

I went up in steps when I torque it then the pattern I used is from cummins is that the pattern I should be using

We torque ours down to 135. Then heat cycle, let it cool to room temperature and retorque to 135. What kind of drive pressure and boost are u seeing?

torqued mine to 125 once with new gasket and arps never had a problem since. sounds like your head isnt flat or your using a gasket made of rice paper.

Have the block checked. If it is blowing in the same spot every time I bet you have something wrong with the block.

If I make 50 psi of boost I have about 65psi of drive pressure the last time I took the head off I had to deck the head 9 thou to make it true

I have been using cummins gaskets once I get the head off will check the block. the last two times it was in the same spot that it blew
