ok well i finlly blowed my head gasket what should i o back with? just wantin some opions!!

I am not sure, I have had 2 fire ringed trucks, the first one I didnt own long enough to get a good idea as to how much I liked them. The second truck had a small headgasket leak and it was fireringed and had 14mm studs done at schieds.

I have a 24 valve now and I was sort of wondering the same thing...Mine currently leaks a little oil.

Also keep in mind, timing plays a role in popping head gaskets... its not all boost that pops them

The way that I look at it is this:

If your going to go through the headache of pulling the head, o-ring the damn thing.

Its an extra $300 to have it done at most places. You'll need to fluxed and decked, but that usually only runs an extra $100 or so.

I just went with a .020 12v gasket from Mumau Diesel. GREAT people to work with. Everyone who has done this has said that they lose some bottom end.. I haven't noticed that at all. I have noticed that the truck starts a little harder in this cold weather. When I say starts harder, what I mean is that I actually hear half a crank. Before, the second I touched the key the truck fired off. Now, I hear about a 1/4 second of "ruu" before it fires off. I'm also attributing a little of this to the fact that these are the original batteries from 2001.. And I think they are about due.

Basically, no matter what gasket you decide to go with, I would at least get the head o-ringed. If you don't have studs, get them too. If you're going through the trouble of doing this, do it right the first time. You should be fine with a factory 24v cummins gasket, but if you want to get a modified 12v I would talk to Mumau. No matter what gasket you get, I would presonally recommend an original CUMMINS part.. I wouldn't go with any of the non OEM parts offered.

what do you plan on doing with the truck? you staying at the HP level you're at now.?

No need to o-ring under 500 hp IMHO. I ran mine for years at that level with just studs and a .10 over gasket. Definately get it decked and copper coat has worked for me. Hell it even worked on a gasket I re-used when my cam siezed and I tore the motor back down.
Jeff @ Mumau all the way. !!!

What's the usuall cost to get the head o-ringed, deck, and the headgasket or basicly get what's the whole job usually cost on average? Not including studs just the headwork and gaskets.

Mine decked, o-ringed, and an entire top end gasket kit (not just a headgasket) was around $600.

That is close to the price of a shop around here, but he wasn't going to o-ring it.

im in the process of takin it off now im not gettin it o ringed. got laid off today but i am going to get new arp studs and a .020 12v marine gasket. right at 500hp i tank and i hope i should be fine..
