Body Swap ?

I dont know if this is the place to post this or not, if not mods can move it. Im looking at this 92 w250. when i called the guy he said it had 49000 miles, but it had a body swap cause the original body was a rust bucket. does this sound right at all, is this a common thing to do? if he didn't swap vin #s then i couldnt run a background check on it to see if the 49k miles is legit. any help or advice on what i should do?
