Boost leak inside engine?

I pressurized my system, set my regulator to 40psi, and the boost gauge wouldn't move. I heard some leaks so I fixed them. One boot was leaking and the gasket under the grid heater was blown out. After that the boost gauge only went up to 15 psi. I couldn't find any more leaks outside. I could hear the air noise and I put my thumb over the crankcase vent tube. When I took it off it went "Pffffff" and a bunch of air came out. I could also hear air coming out my exhaust pipe.

Is this acceptable?
It runs great, just has low end power issues, but I attribue that to being at 5500 feet and having 41 inch tires.

If your intake valves are open, it'll pressurize the cylinder. If your rings aren't sealing properly, you'll leak past those into the crank case. Try backing off your intake valves and do it again.

I did tap the starter a few times to see if that fixed it but no matter where I tried, the max it would go up to is 15psi. I was pressurizing it through a tire valve on the cap, which has some restriction to flow.

you have to back off all the rockers so the valves will close or you will always have a valve open somewhere in the motor allowing pressure to escape.

what your describing is normal.. except the pressure coming out of the crankcase vent... that is normal but normal for an engine with worn out piston rings.... no big deal as long as it runs good i wouldnt worry about it... i have a 4bt that has rins that dont seal very well but it still runs like a top and has been for a whole now.

yeah I will just keep driving it until it stops running. Thanks for the info.
