So tell me - on the seriously built 2.8 and 3.0 pulling trucks - what kinda consistant boost numbers are being had from these "customized single charger" trucks?

For those that are allowed water injection - do your boost numbers change and if so by how much?

How much are you making ken?

Believe i read somewhere about a built 3.0 makin over 100 psi. That seems high on a single to me im guessing most are 70 to 80 range. I remember heath sayin that the flying dutchman hit 70 on a good track.

I kinda thought the same thing. He did seem to have plenty of fuel for it though

I would think 70 would seem very high for the silver 66 he ran all last year

Ken, my truck ran a consistant 50psi on the very few tight tracks we had and 40-45 on the crappy loose tracks. I did see 70 in Orono with the added fuel and the sled operator giving me a workout.

Hey Kris
Mine made an easy 55 psi heavily wastegated, with the race VE, and it struggled, on the stock VE Ip that we finished the season on when the VE race pump blew up, but still made 55 psi with no wastegate

however i dont know if that is a fair comparison - I am told that with unported and stock cam - going to a heavily ported cammed motor, that boost would drop but airflow would be up - So a year ago, unported etc I was makin 55 psi, and after the cam and porting i was still makin 55spi - just a lot sooner , and hit a lot harder

It will be interesting to see what it does this year with the 215 pump on it and a better wastegate

I am curious - there have been 160+ lookers here, and not a single response - is this more of that - If I tell you, have to kill you sheeet????

pulling i see a consistent 45-50 with mild programming, with more programming and 15% water meth injection the most i've ever seen out of the silver 66 was 65 psi. the turbo did not sound happy though, so i set the wastegate to 55psi. i don't think anything over 55 is efficient boost for that turbo, i could feel the torque starting to fall off as the boost passed 58. just my personal experience. but this is also on a common rail.:ft:

You still gona have her piped out the fender ken?

And Kris i didnt mean to speak for you there just goin off what heath told me and ya that was right after orono i believe.

As for me I know i could push about 42 psi out of my stock turbo on the street, not sure what it did pulling. I am quite curious on how larger turbos really affect boost numbers but maybe like ken says nobody wants to share.

45-55 non WG, alot of it will be a result of the cam you are running and head work

boost is only a measure of restriction...

I would take 45 psi on a setup with heavy porting on the head, a healthy cam, etc. over a 65 psi stock setup anyday.

A single turbo, no matter how big can only be pushed so high. 100psi out of a single would be a pressure ratio so high the compressor would not effecient and would likely scatter before that.

stock duramax with a 3.0 s400 making 60psi but I tend to agree we make that much because of restriction.
