Boost Pressure Sensor Failure

My father in law has a 1998 24v and he is CONSTANTLY having to replace the boost pressure sensor($250). His truck is running an Edge box with the waste gate blocked off. I am trying to help him with the problem. But, it seems to reoccur? I no on my 04 there is a boost fooler like a small elbo that restricts the amount of air allowed to get to the sensor. There has got be either a sensor that can take the little bit of extra boost he is making. I just don't no where to start? Are ther any heavy duty sensors available? It would not seem to me that a stock truck with the waste gate plugges would make enough boost to cause the sensor to fail. Any help would be great!

250 for a MAP sensor? Holy chit!!!! Where are you buying them?

I doubt the actual boost pressure is causing the sensor to fail. Check the circuit.
