i have a 62mm extended tip S300 cat turbo w/ .80 exhaust housing on my truck and finally got the 60psi boost gauge on and layed into it on the highway and got to approx 42 max psi with it surging a little bit.

wondering if this is all that most running an s300 turbo.

also i am running the turbo off the afc i dont have a manual boost controller

thanks

michael

sounds about right with the fuel you have.
Shut down the WG a little bit and see what she does.

well then dont.

40 is a good pressure with the fueling that you have.
I have a buddy of mine with a Hamilton BS cam, DDP3's, 4k gsk, 215 pump, with a 62/14 pushin 45ish. So I would say that you are good.

alright thanks i just dont know what the psi limit my head will hold. it is oringed but i have stock bolts in it thats tq to 125 ft/lbs so i am kinda leary of pushing it past 40 too far.

if it's a good o-ring job, it should hold a lot assuming you didin't overtorque your bolts and turn them to rubber

I've got an o-ring'd head with a 24v gasket and Stock head bolts torqed to 150ft.lbs .... Holding close to 800 to the ground and 65+ psi...

My .02

what steps did you tq them to get to the total 150? did you go in increments of like 5 or something?

ok cool i just kinda wanted to see what i could hold and if there is more room on that s300 turbo since i dont know for sure what it is to be exact i kinda had a hard time looking it up on those flow charts in the other thread about them.

Once i got to 130, I went up by 5's...
Did one heat cycle at 140 and the bumped them up to 145+ from there.
The heat cycle helped get the extra gasket crush cause the bolts moved quite a bit.

alright thanks man i am just kinda leary of going that far with my bolts i have now being that its a recon engine and i dont know how many times they have been loosened and tightened thought about pulling them one at a time and measuring them to see how far they have stretched if i get the time and think about it.

My buddy has a mild plate in his truck that is why he is pullin what he is now. Shortblock is brand new (two months old) so.... fuel will be dumped to it shortly. I think he has #10 all the way back. So... its a mild fuel setting. he has it where it is now to break in the shortblock.
