First thing i would do is pull out the rear abs sensor located in the differential housing and inspect it, see if its broke or loaded with metal.

Does your truck have 4 wheel anti-lock or rear wheel anti-lock? You need a scanner to read codes on the 4WAL system, you can check the codes without a scanner on the RWAL system. Most of the time the lights are caused by the rear wheel speed sensor, but it could be a front sensor, Controller Anti-lock Brakes, and I've even seen a few trucks with damaged tone rings in the rear axle.

DTC Procedure for RWAL
1) Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Momentarily ground
terminal No. 13 of Data Link Connector (DLC). DLC is located at bottom
of instrument panel to left of steering column. DLC terminal No. 13
wire color is Black.
2) Both ABS and BRAKE warning lights will begin to flash.
Initial flash will be a long flash followed by one or more short
flashes. Long flash indicates beginning of DTC number. Short flashes
are a continuation of DTC number. Both long and short flashes must be
counted for an accurate DTC number.

I have this same problem on my 2000. I found out what it is . The front ABS sensor line was rubbing the brake rotor after we put the hub bearing on it. I did'nt get the line put in the holder thats on there and it rubbed a hole in it.

I will check it out tomorow.. been busy at work but just have the rear abs. Thanks for the info!

So did you have to replace the line?

Mine does it but not all the time.
