Broken DV spring

I was installing my 024 DV's tonight on pump while it's on the bench and I found a broken DV spring? Replace individually or as a set?

I would do the set. It seems like the pumps I have found usually have more than one broken so I replace them all. Easy now.

Aren't the springs pretty pricey? Or am I mistaken? And how do you break one? Just age and sitting around?

I have run into this before too. Also wondered what would cause them to break? I assumed just mileage and wear.

They are 15.50 a piece thru cummins dealer! Just got all 6! I felt better replacing them as a set incase I have a weak one.
