the other day i put a new turbo on my truck with a big exhaust housing, and muffed up compressor wheel, and it wont make any boost untill after 2000rpm, and its not as nearly as bad as i thought it would be. so with the correct fuel could a 76 or 78/80/.80 be spooled at a similar rpm?

holset?? you got a pic?

and the turbo housing isnt that much of a difference. a 66/71/14 will light at 1800 give or take.

a 74/74/1.10 t4 surges like hell down low, a 78/74/.80 will be worse. to prevent surge youd probably have to go with a 78/88/1.10, and i cant see it lighting until 2800-3000 rpm, maybe 2500 with a cam and head work.

FWIW, I ran a S478 (78/74/.9) on a 24V ppumped truck with a cam and head work and it spooled around 2600 rpm.

nope no pics sorry

bullsey has one they call it an s300 but i was told that just means it has a t4 flange and its really a s400 charger

the 73.4-80mm turbine wheel is an s300. meaning it should be available with a .80 T3, .88 T4, .91 T4 and a few other larger ones.

it wouldnt be a bad turbo, but i think its stupid to be putting a 71mm wheel on an s300 when the 66mm (silver bullet) wheel is causing shaft and thrust washer issues.

either way, it has nothing to do with the other turbos we were talking about.

thats an s400 in the pic, and im 99.9% sure that the 80-73.4mm wheel is not available with that turbo.

there is a 78mm compressor available with the same turbin wheel too. think they put that on an s300? i dont remeber who said it but it was a member on here that said those were 400s.
what turbin wheels are available on the 400 ? i was going for the super fast spool at first so i started on some tripples hoping i could spool them really fast but i kinda like the laggy thing. it discourages me from goofin off to much so the truck lasts longer LOL

call bullseye, theyre going to tell you they dont make an s300 based charger with a 78mm wheel. the s300's shaft is just too small for a wheel that size.

The confusion lies in their callout. They refer to S400's differently depending on the turbine housing. The 78 is not available in an S300 (as far as the S300 the rest of the world calls an S300). Standard S400 turbine wheels are 80, 83, 87, 91 and 96 without digging into the obscure section of the parts catalog.

what are the exduces for them chris? ??, 74, 82, ??, 88

if the 80 is a 73.4-80 like the s300, is it a clipped turbine wheel like the s300?

This isnt something you will hear me say often. This is the best deal ANYWHERE on the internet. That charger, S400, TRUE 76mm ETT wheel, 80X73.4mm turbine and the T4 0.80 S400 turbine housing all for $1499. Each one of those parts is as rare as it gets in the performance diesel world, Welcome to the "Holy Grail" of S400's. Come on, push the button, you know you wanna. Plus I want to see how fast my phone rings to machine up the pieces that dont exist when they have to build it......LOL I love the internet, who needs Saturday morning cartoons when we have this.
