I have a 97 12valve in a superduty. I found that the fuel heater was melted (the wiring and internals) so I removed it completely. I installed a new fuel pump (I left the plate as a spacer behind the pump so as not to preload it) and installed an inline fuel filter. Any issues with this? The filter is a draw through on the supply line before the pump. Thanks

NY but the truck will never be driven during the winter. Im not concerned with the lack of a fuel heater, just making sure its acceptable the way I did it.

Yep. I found that Cummins makes that spacer for other applications and could be had for very little coin but, cutting it off with a hacksaw was free. It's just something that rairly gets serviced on many trucks and the cause of manys fueling problems. My engine had only 47,000 miles on it when I first purchased it and that heater bowl was 99% stopped up with crap prob. causing the prev. owner lots of issues. I delete them often down here in Tx. for friends, all that I have done were pluged and had never been serviced due to them not knowing about it and being hard to get to......JMO

thank you stock600. Exactly what I was looking for. I made sure to cut it off and re-use the spacer portion. I just wanted to make sure this was an acceptable mod. Mine was clogged solid, melted, and as its a conversion, it was going to have to be custom wired ANYWAY! thanks!
