I am looking at putting 285/75/16 tires on my 96 cab and chassis but my question is has any one done this if so how much clearance do u have between the inside tire and spring ? Also i just bought 1.5 spacers for the two tires to keep from rubbing on the rear i have ford 90 model alcoas on the front and rear outside if this matters ? the truck is used on the farm and towing

here is a pic of the truck

I remember hearing about Josh Land (Teddybear) putting spacers and 285's on his puller a couple years ago. He bought 1.5" spacers and the oem studs were so long he had to shave them to allow the outside wheel to seat flush. Said he wish he had just gone with 2" to start with. Might be different on a C&C rather than a regular DRW but just something that comes to mind.

I had looked at doing this, but it looked like not much bigger that the stock size tire would fit.

Those look almost like a Toyo MT Chase....good looking tire...price is much better than any of my local tire shops also! If you get them let me know how you like them.

yea i noticed that when i first saw them i am thinking about ordering 2 and trying them on the front

I don't know the boy I know that was trying it used one of my wheels and tires when I had my 01 and after not fitting he just went 255/85/16

We ran 285's on Lynn's 2wd puller with 2" spacers. His is a Cab and Chassis also. plenty of clearance between the tire and frame, but it gets real right around the leaf springs. If you decide to put air bags on the truck for heavy hauling, you will probably have to put them inside the frame rails. Here is a pic from a few years back. You can kinda see how close the springs are to the tires.

Depending on the backspacing a 285/75 16 will fit on a cab and chassis truck. It will be very close to the ubolts on the springs. Then you probably a 2" spacer between them. You could get by with less of a spacer between the tires. I actually think a 1" spacer would work, but it depends on the backspacing.

im running c/c rearend in my puller. with 305/70/16. 1/2" spacer between the drum and first wheel, then 2" spacer inbetween wheels.
