im looking at possibly upgrading to a duramax for a daily driver, the problem is that i cant decide which one i want, im really leaning towards the LBZ because of the 6 speed allison. but i like the LB7 for the fuel mileage, im not too sure about the LLY. my plans for the truck would be purely a RELIABLE daily driver and a tow rig for the camper. it would have an intake, exhaust, and an maybe an edge. how would the tranny handle that? based on what i want to use it for which generation would i be better off with? thanks in advance guys:rockwoot:

i liked the lbz that i had i loved the 6 speed. i got better fuel mmilage than my fathers lly, plus more power. i had a ppe duramaxamizer and theyre boost regulater and i had no problems with it

I like eather the LB7 or LBZ... If you get a LBZ it would be a 06 so you should have about two years warrety left.

LBZ no question, stronger engine, less problems with injectors and you can tune them to get great MPH.

thats what i was leaning towards, all i want is a good relaible daily driver with a little more go than a stocker, so i'll begin the search for an LBZ :D

i'd have to find an early 06 with the LLY, i want the 6 speed

LBZ all day long.. one of my brothers has an 05 lly and mine gets better milage and will dust it. Hey JD4440 im gonna ask you bout ur smoke switch. lol can you explain how it works and how much you paid to get it like that

The early 06 LLY is the exact same setup as the LBZ, just detuned a bit. Lots of people don't know that and you can usually get them a little cheaper. Same truck, just different tuning. The easy way to tell if you don't do the VIN check on an 06 is look at the Allsion logo, the LLY still has the old logo and the LBZ has the new one.

My vote would be for a non emission LMM but you wont go wrong with a LBZ.

im really thinkin LBZ is the way to go, i found an 06 for 28k that i really like

early 07's were lbz's too. i have an 07 lbz and i love it!

Yes LBZ classic. I had one and sold it and sorry I did. Was the best daily driver I ever had, all the bells and whistles for the model. Ran a Idaho Rob hot street tune all the time, racing, daily driving and towing, 575 hp to the ground. Standard set of MPI twins, TTS lift pumps and some light tranny work and Percision TC. Got 22+mph on the freeway, 17 around town, ran 12.7, 107 all day on the strip and towed my 7K travel trailer at 13+mph. Sold it with 86K on the odometer. The guy who bought it loves it.

sounds like an awesome truck. i would eventually like to do that to mine. i also have rob's tuning and i love it. i am getting ready to buy the SC GMax 6Pac and a Precision ML converter and built it myself. My truck used to get awesome mileage until i bought 20" BMFs haha. Last year i drove from East TN to Terre Haute IN to Schied Diesel Extravaganza, took 8hrs, and i still had a 1/4 tank left when i got there! but that was with stock wheels.

yeah, i've looked at a few 07 classics, im VERY picky about what i want, if im gonna spend that much on a truck its gonna be EXACTLY what i want.

im looking for either a red or blue crew cab short bed, light or dark grey interior, must have heated leather, less than 100k miles, climate control, sunroof, bose stereo, basically a fully optioned LT i guess. and most importantly, STOCK. haha

i totally understand man. thats exactly how i was.

it makes no sense to spend almost 30 grand on a truck and have it not be everything you want. i settled for white with my dodge, i really HATE white, but it had everything else i wanted
