Cam and tappet quesiton

I just picked up a used schied street cam. Looks to be a 12v regrind. It has a bit of rust staining on a few places figured id just take some scotch brite pads and wd40 and clean it up. Or is there a better way? Also on tappets i was just going to get some new 12v tappets or should i pick up some 24valve tappets

i had one with a little rust accumulate before i could put it in, just cleaned with scotchbrite

use 24v tappets if it has rust I would take it to an engine shop and have them polish it with a crank polisher its already a used cam you don't want to give it any reason to wipe a lobe
