Those of you with a pulling cam, what are you seeing on the valve?

When is the intake valve opening?

When is the exhaust valve closing?

The ones who know won't post, and I would guess most of the others have never measured.

Mild cams open at 15 degrees BTDC mild cams that require cutting open 20-25degrees BTDC. About 25 degrees is about all I like to see, but I have seen cams open as far as 38 degrees BTDC which is pretty inefficient.

As far as the exhaust, street cams close 2BTDC to 5degrees ATDC. I have seen some cams that stay open as long as 22 degrees or more after TDC.

Hope this helps.

I imagine the rpm band you want to make power in will greatly affect the cam specs.

At what rpm are you shooting to make your 400 hp this year Dan? :hehe:

what would be the best for an 05 2.8 puller and it has an auto trans. I need something to run in the 3500-4500rpm range. and still lite my 2.8 turbo.

If the pistons are cut, then I would go for a 215/232 pulling cam if that is all you are doing with the truck. If you are driving occasionally. I would go for a 188/225. Both have a lot more lift than our street cams. If you want to go over your setup , call me and I can get all of the specifics.
