Can I swap these Tranny's?

My friend has a 96 5 speed stock 4x4 dodge estended cab truck. He wants a 6 speed and found a deal on a 2006 totalled 6 speed. Can he swap the 2006 6 speed into a 96 1st gen???

First off thats a 2nd gen and yes he can. The 06 6 speed is a g56 and will hold up to about 600hp and down. You will need a clutch kit for a 06 a starter spacer and maybe drive shaft work.
