Search has failed so now I ask.

Anyone know what the correct part number for the carrier bearing on a 2002 Dodge Quad 4x4 3500 is?

The parts stores don't have a flippin' clue. Oriely's just gave me 5 numbers. The dana is $179.99. Then they gave me 4 Spicer numbers ($20 each WTH?) but don't know which one it is. 1480, 1550, 1260, 1410.

Anyone know what I need to order or do I have to take the dang thing to them and flop my greasy shaft up on the counter?

The four Spicer numbers they gave you are u-joints, not a carrier bearing. The third gen, which has to be similar to a second gen, but do not quote me on this is Spicer #210391-1x. See this thread clickie

U-joints? That figures. LOL Idiots. She asked me if it was the "front one or the back one." I said that I don't belive there is a carrier on the front. Maybe I'm wrong. LOL

NAPA has as SKF for $85.00 that is a 1.568 inner diameter. Anyone know if that is the correct diameter? I'd sure like to go buy the part then pull the shaft....not go buy it, drive home, have the wrong one, then walk to the store. LOL Probably what will happen.

SKF HB1650-10 is the one NAPA carries.

I'm fixin' to start a "how effin dumb can counter people be at parts stores" thread. I've called NAPie, Autozoned-out, and Oh-Rillys and I have yet to talk to anyone with more than three brain cells.

I just asked what the inner diameter was....responce in the background.."hey Jim, do you know how to read this"..I'm picturing blonde with dial calipers in hand. She said, it is "one inch...and half an inch...and .62. " Good God man? Are you kidding me?

Federal Mogul number is HB88108D as far as I can tell.

The HB1650-10 is the one for the job. Been down this road with a stupid parts kid not that long ago. There's another part # that I can't remember off the top of my head right now-it fits the gasser trucks-nowhere close to right.

Just talked to a local "Bearing" shop. They must have a new guy. I asked for a Carrier Bearing and he starts flippin' through a book and he says, "you want a bearing for an air conditioner?" Good God man. :(

Yeah, I know. I worked in the trade for 8 years before the lure of the oilpatch came calling. Usually look up my own #'s now on the interweb and take them with me to eliminate the stupidity-sometimes that doesn't work out either though.....
