3 of the 6 pins in the APPS connector are for idle validation. It's basically a single pole double throw switch, but in Chrysler's infinite wisdom, instead of using a basic switch for this, they made this part of the APPS from a WAD of circuitry. In idle position you should have continuity between pins #1 and #6 and any position OFF idle should have continuity between pins #1 and #2. Looking at the end of the connector that plugs into the APPS with the retainer clip on top, pin #1 is the top left, #2 is middle left, and #6 is top right.
I'm in the process of putting an APPS on my 12V I put in a '98+ 24V auto truck. I have wired a SPDT micro switch into and APPS to take the place of this circuitry. I have 2 APPS's that were replaced because they were bad and the idle validation circuit in both of them is what's bad.
