Okay this is for a friend of mine that has a duramax. Tonight was his first pull and he has a stock front end. The tires were bowed in BAD but luckily it didnt break the tie rod. What do we need to do to fix this problem? Thanks oh yea and pictures would help!

Tell him to check out Crankitupdiesel.com you will prob have to call them to see they are a ways away from you but they deal with pretty much only duramax. They would be the ones that I think would be able to help you that I know of.

tie rod ends and Center link mainly. I would also loosen the tortion bar adjuster bolts pretty much all the way out and let it set the front end down. That will also reduce bouncing.

If it is a stock turbo truck, ratchet strap front end and tie rod sleeves. Save your money on the centerlink for now.

Take a piece of plywood, a jack, a breakover bar, and a 18mm deep socket to the pulls. Jack one side of the truck up until the tire is just off the ground and count the number of turns to back the torsion bars out from pushing up on the keys. Probably will be somewhere between 11 & 15 turns. I do one side at a time. If he is not hanging any weight you can take them out. Either way is fine. When done pulling, jack it up and screw them in the same number of turns that they were unscrewed.

This needs to be done regardless of if he has sleeves, centerlink, straping or any combination of these.

Secondly, tie rod sleeves are cheap insurance to make it stronger, but you still must lower the front end. Here is a photo with and without the sleeves.

PPE sells the orginal sleeves that Michael (SuperDiesel) designed years ago. They are stainless steel and are in the picture above. CrankItUp also sells a cheaper non-stainless version.
