Yes you read it right.

Im looking for an aftermarket chrome alternator. I know there is companies out there that make them but the ones I have called told me they dont have them available. I currently have my alternator apart and its getting powder coated but I would really like a chrome one for the girl

Lets see how this pans out

Sincerly overly obsest

I have a guy that says he can get you one,....he was going into as meeting but he's gonna call me back,...

What are the specs you need?

Stupid question here,, but is it difficult to take apart a altenator? Isnt there all kinds of issues doing this?

Kevin

Ebay seems to have loads of chrome alternators for dodge cars
so buy one for the $80-120 depending on amps, and swap your 8 rib pulley onto it - takes all of about 5 minutes to change

I used a 1 wire Ford alternator on mine

You are an ebay lovin son of a gun :hehe:

:Cheer:
You bet I love Ebay - I built my truck for about 1/3 the cost of what it is to buy parts here in Canada.
Next best is the for sale forum here:woohoo:

Here is the problem....The Dodge caseing can not be chromed they say. Yes you can take it apart...I did and have the case. Currently I have it at the powder coaters at a last result. I have another one Im taking apart in hopes of getting that chromed. I shipping it to a guy in Cali who does low riders.I took it to several high quality shops that do custom chrome. The one said they would attemped it but it has magnizem in it...( I know i spelled Magnizem wrong)

So for 600.00-700.00....did they check and make sure it bolts to a 2005 dodge truck and is the higher amperage....

As for the F-SVT....its a joke. Remember for has a SVT division....Special Vehicle Team....Remember the Cobra, Lightening...ect...When someone comes up and actually asked I tell them I got the truck as is from Ford....Most of the time they are stumped

it is a 05 Dodge aftermarket alternator that puts out 250amps

the reason they are so hard to find is,...the chrome locks in the heat,..and it runs hot..which is not the greatest thing .

i knew of svt,i have a lightning, but i swear i saw another superduty with a f-svt emblem on the fender. must be a aftermarket badge.

nice truck btw! best of bolth worlds!

Thanks....I had the badges custom made by Billetbadges.com....

Why not do Cermachrome?

I would imagine it might work. since it a process similiar to powdercoating.

Back to my earlier question, is there any tricks to taking apart the altenator? Is there things that are going to fly at me?

Thanks

Kevin

The ones that I have rebuilt are extremely simple. Haven't done any cummins alternators though.
