Ok so I bought a used 96 3500 and the clutch master cylinder pushed through the firewall today. Scared me to death. What is supposed to keep this from happening? I can't seem to see any collar for bolts to go through, these are supposedly new upgraded hydros for the dual disc recently installed. I just don't want this to happen again.

Has happened to me after a new install. Just push it back through from the engine side and twist

1994-1997 use a master that twists into a hole pre-made into the pedal support bracket.
1998 and up uses the oval-shaped bracket that is held in with 2 studs/nuts.
I have seen the pedal support version break with heavy clutch pressure before.

USUALLY there is a screw or a plastic push pin that locks the hydro master in, but sometimes they don't get put back.

Also, the master push rod is longer on the 1998-2002 pedals, made that mistake exactly ONE time. :bang

Mark.

Wow hard to believe its just a twist in place setup. Now I remember why I have the truck, the Cummins engine, not the dodge truck.
