i have a 02 dodge 2500 with a cummins code block 56 in it. i know about the 53 and 55 but do u guys know anything about a 56?

I was told the 56 blocks are the mexican blocks, and are the heaviest 5.9 casting.

56 aint mexican its tupy just like the 53, 54 ,55, and 56. all gettng better with the newer number series. mexian blocks dont have a 2 digit number on them just some small numbers and like stated abover are suppose to be the strongest.

My brothers truck is a 56 block and from what i was told and read on it before we bought the truck was those were about the strongest blocks before they switched over to the common rail. Yeah the mexican blocks are strongest but those are rare to fine and will have a code number of some sort, not a 2 digit casting like the brazilian blocks.

I've got a mexi block. I'll check the numbers on it when I get it back.

i had a mexican block in my 99 but the people i got it from ran it out of oil are 55 blocks bad like 53 cause i just bought one and put it in lol

I've seen 51 and 52 blocks, neither of those have problems.

My truck has a 53, and I did a lot of research, only time will tell on mine, but from everything I've read, not all 53s are bad, some of them where cast with a missing part of the mold which caused them to be weak and some were not. The only way to tell is to take the engine apart or pull the freeze plugs and measure. I hope mine wont break, I am pushing four fifty HP and tow heavy, (knock on wood or should I say Cummins?)

All of this is from memory and it aint what it use to be.
