What am I missing here? All the ISB's start much colder than that without the grid.

LMAO I'd sell the truck if i had to start it like that ford all winter.

even that 12v kinda sucked. mine cranks and fires and actually runs

I love No Doubt

Can't say I'm surprised haha LOL

I have had much worse luck trying to start my truck without the grid heaters. I had to plug it in for a bit and then give it some throttle while I cranked. When she finally did fire she seemed pretty pissed off.

Mine'll crank without the grid heaters and not being plugged in when it's in the high 20's. She doesn't like it but she will. Personally, I'd rather just swap the grid heaters back in for the winter. Takes 5 minutes and it's not like it's gonna hurt the power or performance of the truck.

why take the grids out in the first place

Marginally better airflow, less strain on the alternator and batteries. Grid heaters are mainly to keep the white smoke down on cold starts then to assist the truck in starting.

There is mine at 30* with the grids. I wouldnt take my grids out personally. I cant see any performance difference coming from it, and they do help to start the truck in the cold.

doesnt start much better. mine smokes so much because of the injectors. it can be 60* out and still smokes white when i start it.

My 01 wont start if its below 40 unless its plugged in! Well it does but it will sit there and slobber all over itself and miss and will smoke out the whole subdivision! Might be due to low compression, mild cam, and 250hp injectors! It really doesnt like temps under 65!

how low of compression? i have 250hp injectors too.

It took 3min to start mine today with it 35ish outside.

And I still have heaters.
