comp vs smarty

iv got a comp box and a smarty iv been told to get reid of the smarty and just get the comp upgraded. whats yalls opinion?
 
acked iv been told to get reid of the smarty and just get the comp upgarded.. it seems to pull harder with the smarty and smoke alot more.. but i was just wondering yalls opinion
 
like when i rev. it up with just the comp no smoke but with the smarty lots of smoke?
 
My buddy has just the hot comp, version 11.8 i believe, and he can just rev his truck up and blow a big cloud. The regular comp wont do that. I have heard 180hp but dont know how true that is. I know there is a night and day difference between the regular comp and the hot comp though.

I see that ur truck is an HO. The hot comp is not gonna run as good on it as it would on a SO truck. U may look into getting a SO or a HRVP pump to get full potential out of your fueling.
 
upgrade the comp for 50 bucks. run the smarty on maybe 3x5 all the time and turn the comp off and on when ya wanna really smoke or raise hell. keep it. the comp makes big diff inpower levels. the smarty really doesnt but will change the driveability curve dramatically but on my truk it added no power. only the comp does.
 
yeah when i tested my smarty on or off, there was no real power gain despite what they claim, but it sure changes the driveability.
 
I daily drive mine with the smarty on SW2 and all REVO settings default... and the drag comp off... turn the comp on when I need the power....

I drag race and sled pull with the smarty on SW4 and TQ6. Cruise control doesn't work well on those settings though... So thats why I don't drive normally on those settings.
 
yeah i dont ever drive with the comp on i usally just run the smarty on 2 or 6 just depends on what im doing. the smarty has alot more throttle response and is real touchy. and when ever i sled pull i run the smarty on 8 and the comp all the way up..
 
im not real sure.. im just to make between 500 and 550hp and im just looking into what everybody thanks i should go from here
 
Your going to want to look into some head studs before you go any further, trust me. Two and a half years ago I ran a smarty on my truck on the dyno and make with the drag comp only 497, I put the smarty on level nine and make something like 460, then I put it on seven and ran 464. later that day we ran it on an 01 and he lost time in the quarter mile due to the fact that it didn't do away with the TM. I can't speak for the newer software, because I don't know how much it has changed.
 
well i thank thats what im going to do. mater a fact im sending one of mine off tomarrow iv got to of them and if i like it ill probly just do away with the smarty. i tightin my head studs down to like 120lbs and was careful not to streach them so im going to run it as long as i can if i keep it wasegated i should be ok 4 awhile right just wondering but i no ill need to invest in some
 
you're gonna want the smarty if you're running a bigger turbo. I hate driving my 6spd without the smarty.

Because the smarty doesn't care what boost is it just throws the coals to the fire. That's why people like to drive with the smarty.
