Compass/thermometer wigging out

Has anyone had this happen? The compass/thermometer/trip meter on the overhead console was just displaying a "CCd" so I performed the calibration for the compass. Now the readout shows the temperature at 200-350 degrees, but everything else on the display seems to be working fine. What is going on, and how do I fix it.

The "CCD" is the bus that it gets its information from. You most likely have a wire rubbed through or a connector half unplugged. It is a twisted pair of wired between the overhead console and the PCM that mounts on the firewall behind the air box in front of the pasenger.

Stand for "Cluster Cluck Device". :hehe: It also stands for "you can't use my mpg calculations because they aren't even close."

I would think that if a databus wire were rubbed through and/or shorted together that it would cause more than just an overhead console issue, considering that the PCM, ECM, ABS, gauge cluster, and more are all tied together using the same twisted pair.

I could see a connector being partially disconnected or corroded causing an issue like this however.

If I'm not mistaken, CCD actually stands Chrysler Collision Detection. Some of the modules we build at work use it, so it isn't just used on Chrysler products either...

Your over head console may have some corrosions in it due to moisture if your cab lights are leakin'. Fill out your sig so we can see what you have. :D

Mine has done that since I got it in November. Now it makes since because I had a fluke dill where my gauges didn't work and it said no bus on the odometer. Well my PCM is probably trash LOL. Thanks for clearing that up for me.
