Converter issues

Just bought a 95 2wd with 104k miles, owned by a diesel mechanic who's passed away and his son was selling it. Anyways I'm having issues with the converter randomly locking and unlocking. It does it under all throttle conditions/speeds and randomly. Sometimes it goes in and out for 3 seconds and sometimes it longer. Does it when the truck is cold or warm. Very sparatic and random, I can't predict it or make it happen. ????

check voltage at the TPS

Check grounds, check TPS, some folks have even wrapped the TPS wires in aluminum foil to help with noise related issues.

Clean and wiretie the temp sending wire on the cooler line.
