Ok I've got a 00 24V. Woke up to having oil everywere the other morning. Popped the rad cap and it was full of oil. This happend about six months ago and I replaced the oil cooler, been fine ever since. Took the oil cooler out tonight did my best to pressure test it and it didn't seem to have any leaks. The truck has always run high oil pressure since I've had it. At idle when cold it runs 75-80psi, 90-100psi on a rev. When at opperating temp it will idle around 30ish and get up into the 60's on rev. No coolant in oil though. Just looking to see if anyone has any ideas for me?? Any help or insight is appriciated! Thanks

Well that sucks. Fought one on a Cummins otr engine for a week. Replaced the oil cooler and it was fine. It was putting coolant in the oil though.

Yea I'm thinking that but no leaks when pressure tested. Its not 200 degrees though and I can't send as much pressure threw it as the oil does.So I'm sure that makes a difference! If it is that I gotta figure out a way to get the oil pressure down, that has got to be causing this. $350.00 bucks a pop is not goin to cut it every six months

Thats what concerns me! I figured if it was a head gasket I would have coolant in the oil. The Head gasket was new with o-rings and studs 6 months ago as well. Hasn't really seen over 60-65lbs of boost. If it is the gasket it makes for a cheaper job, but more time consumming. I just want to be sure before I go tearing the head off. or buying a $350.00 oil cooler!

Take the cooler to a radiator shop and have them test it, worth a shot. A blown HG can go either way, water in the oil or oil in the water.

If your oil pressure is that high, you would have oil in the coolant, but not coolant in the oil.

exactly! Just need to find the source! Might take the oil cooler to a rad shop and get it checked out. Need to find a way to get this oil pressure down though, it seems way to high to me.

Have you tried another oil pressure sensor to compare?

Nope just watching the gauge in dash and on the edge. As far as I can remember though its always been like this. Any idea what your trucks pressure runs Jamie>?

I'd have to look at the gauge again, but I think its around 60psi or so.

Sounds similar to what my oil pressure usually is at - maybe a few psi higher.

Oil PSI sounds normal to me. When the oil is cold it's thicker and less fluid so pressure is higher.

I'm betting on headgasket.

I had oil in my coolant.Checked the cooler and it was ok. Found a blown head gasket. I didnt have any coolant in my oil. No matter what it is it sucks!

oil pressure is fine did u clean the radiator out good from the first time fleetguard makes some coolant cleaner but follow the instructions!

yea i did the dawn soap and water deal getting it hot and draining it. it seemed to have cleaned it real well. I've kept an eye on it and its only been about 2 weeks since I last checked it and it was fine. The oil seemed a lot heavier in the coolant this time. It looked damn near like straight oil. The last time it was very grey and sludgy. I hope I didn't waste 350 bucks last time on an oil cooler. I did the head at the same time I replaced it!

I guess this could be a block issue or head issue right??? Because of course that would be my luck!
