so I seem to have coolant seeping from the head gasket back by #6, under the exhaust manifold. motor has about 330K on it. has anyone had success with just retorquing the head and it stopping, or am I looking at a new gasket?
If I have to put a new gasket on, I will look at o-ringing the head I guess. anyone recommend someone to do that fairly close to Chattanooga, and what does that usually run? thanks.

I'm sure you have looked, but make sure it isn't a heater hose issue. I had one seeping at the rear of my engine and running down.

Call Beans diesel they are in Woodberry and can do this for you. They fire ring and o ring in house. Great guys to deal with.

ok I'll check into beans.
can't be a coolant hose as they don't run back there anymore. would be a place to look if it was stock though. thanks.

nobody has retorqued the head and it quit I guess?
also, whats it usually run to 0-ring the head? ballpark figure.

Local shop I use in Scottsville, KY is $300 to O-ring and last time I checked $300 to R&R the head. But if your gonna pull it and O-ring it you really need to get it checked for flatness before you dump $300 into that head. If the heads not flat and you reinstall it it could just start leaking again.

Since it's by #6, check to see if it has coolant collecting on top of the head near the short head bolt. I've seen a few heads crack between the head bolt and injector boss.

Mine cracked this winter here as well, started running down the side of the block. I just ended up replacing the head...supposedly welding it is an option, but its just a weak point for failure again.
