Will a cam positioning sensor give you intermitted problem or do they just die?

intermittent issues. It will run for a while and then just suddenly die. Or if you have a manual it will seem like its still running for a min just at very low power. But after a few mins you can start it up and drive like there isnt any prob. it will just die again soon.
