Well a friend of mine has a 03 CR 4door shortbed 4x4 with a stick. It has a 4inch, air intake, and older Quad Xzillaraider 90hp. Any idea how fast this would run 1/4 mile wise? He is a very good driver and launches in 4wd. Thanks

^^Yep I agree. Depends on what axle gears he has too. If he has 3:73s and does a 2nd gear 4wd WOT clutch dump he should be in the mid to low 15s at best.

Thats about what I figured. He actually dumps it in 3rd, makes for a pretty good launch. I think it has 4:10's.

Ok then if he has 4.10s then it will be in the 16s. A buddy of mine has an 03 6spd with 4.10s with the pred/puck stack and he does a 3rd gear 4wd wot clutch dump and ran a best of 15.2 in the 1/4. Another buddy of mine has the same truck with the same stack but with 3.73s and he runs 14.0.

He dumps in 3rd, winds it out to like 4 grand and then throws it straight to 6th.

With just a quad he isnt reving any higher than 3300 or so....and going straight to 6th is just gonna kill his time more. I've done 13.4 in my old handshaker.

Yea as long as he can shift fast he ought to go thru all the gears for the best time.

That old Quad box is actually pretty powerful. He got it as a test box way back like 4 years ago or maybe more. He said he thinks its 90hp but I think its more, and it spins up to somewhere around 4k.

Oh and he has a DD clutch that doesn't shift real easy.

with just a programmer an 04.5 + truck will run mid 13's if you can shift it fast enough.

it's not just dumping the clutch in 2nd gear - doing that in 4x4 will ruin a stock clutch. You have to rev to around 3 and than release the clutch - don't drop it. As soon as it starts to grab, let it out as fast as you can push the go pedal to the floor. Don't slam the pedal or you'll kill the clutch but don't drop the clutch or you bog the motor.
release it as fast as the motor will make boost at 2000-2200 rpm, which is where you'll be in 2nd gear when the clutch is all the way out. You can practice in 2wd until you have the tires busting loose as soon as the clutch is out, which is when i power shift 3rd and blow the tires away for another 100 feet. When you obtain this effect your ready for 4x4 launches, than get ready to replace that clutch!

with my stock turbo, I ran 13.9@100@7400#. ConFE would slip bad or bog. I never put to many hole shots on that.. on the street tho with some tire slip it would pull hard outa the hole in 2nd. couldn't manage to break 4 tires lose on the track with VHT for some reason. (you'd think other wise right with AT tires?)

year or so later, 100hp or so more, bigger turbo, same clutch 70,000 miles old now, it slipped on the highway a few days prior so I just let it out and floored it, smoke show and ran with it from there. first 2 runs were 13.9@105 and a 14.1@106. the 3rd run it slipped in 5th.... I was done for the day.. dynoed 612 a few weeks later and managed to kill the clutch finally attempting to do a burn out. :)

Jason ; so what clutch have you decided to go with?
my truck is a regular cab so for some reason, it is still on the stock clutch. I can still do mad 3rd gear burnouts and drift it in 4th gear but the days of 4x4 launches are over HA.

I'd like to get into the low 13's with my truck but it's the earlier year; best pass I've managed at the quarter is 14.90 with just my diablo but it's so fast for the first few gears I haven't upgraded anything else yet.

How fast you think you'll be with a solid clutch? with that much horsepower I'd think 12's.

Yeah with the right clutch that holds and allows fast shifts, high 12's are possible for him.

Im 1/2 second off from 12's and I only have low 500's(EST). I also have some room for improvement in my launch, so I honestly believe my truck has low 13's in it the way it sits. I think If I put some bigger sticks in to take advantage of all the air I have, it should get me in the high 12's.
