will that ^^^^ work? i got a few sets of each, cr rods wont work with the vp pistons because the piston pin bore is 3 and a 1/4 on the cr rods and 3" on the vp rods. i figure the newer stuff is better. i don't have any cr pistons to measure so does anybody know the specs on em, like if they are taller or what they will do compression. if they are taller ill just get a thicker head gasket. and will their bowl work with the spray pattern of vp unit injectors. or what, are the vp rods and pistons the strongest? I figure newer is better but i dunno.

The rods are the same length, same bearing, same pin size. The VP rods are stronger than the CR broke cap rods, and the CR pistons in a VP truck will need custom injectors for the correct spray angle. So.... just keep what you have.

What kind of CR pistons do you have. I collect pistons :)
As said before, there is no difference in wrist pins from 94-07.
You should stick to the VP rods if you have them and run vp pistons. Maybe we could work a trade on some new pistons for your CR pistons if they are any good ??

I run VP rods in my CR as well. Do yourself a favor while you have those VP rods out and weight equalize them, it makes a bigger difference than you'd expect.

oh ok cool. vps are stronger than the cracked cap ones huh. when i say 3 and 1/4' im talking about pin length of the cr piston pins, i didn't even measure diameter of the pin bore between the two rods i just assumed they were different because the cr pins are longer than the 3inch long vp piston pins, i figure the new style they would make em bigger maybe but i guess i shoulda checked that haha that's cool though i'll stick with them vp rods. i got like 4 sets of them my buddy gave to me cuz he said they were weaker than the cracked cap, but i guess he was misguided.

ok i will let you all know what i end up with. i got a guy bringing me a couple late model trucks that are knockin, ill probably end up with 8 or 10 good pistons from those motors. i got a bunch of vp pistons though???

while we are talking about frankenstein stuff, my 05 just lost the turbo again... i put a used one on it last time, so this will be my third turbo. shaft keeps breaking, I dont know why. trucks got a couple edge modules plugged in, not sure which ones, I could go look, but they are ok to stack, my buddy said so and he is big into this stuff. What would be a good turbo for about 250 rwhp or so that is unbreakable?

For someone not pushing the limits of their CTD the 3rd gen fractured cap rods do give you the advantage of more consistent bearing clearances and "rounder holes." This should translate into longer bearing life. I know if I was building a VP motor for a daily driver/tow rig I'd want to throw CR rods in it. I think they are a bit lighter too but when holding one of each they felt pretty close to the same.

Is this a joke?

Is this a joke?

yeah i was just being dumb, nobody could be that retarded ^^^^ its stock, but i did break the shaft again the other day, i was going hard after it got to about 100 then had to jump on the brakes cuz there were a bunch of dumb a's hittin their brakes in front of me and it barked bad then made some nasty sounds then i looked in my mirror and had blacked out the world. Anyway this thing was just destroyed, bunch of parts of it ended up in the cat and the rest was just muffed up.

So whats a good aftermarket turbo with a super strong shaft??
