so look at this pic i bought this truck for 2500$ knowing the cracked block and it runs awesome and i have another engine im going to build with a cam, studs, firerings, valvesprings, etc. The crack starts at the bottom of the freeze plug and is maybe 1/2 to 1 inch long. i would really like to keep this engine in there til i get the other one finished. so how would u fix it weld it, pin it (which looks impossible because the crack ends at the freeze plug) or we have this really good epoxy at work they use for fixing blocks at work (i work at Caterpillar building 3600 engines) or i could try the stuff you pour in the radiator which i would rather not do

theres a kit that you can buy to fix the crack when it is across the bottom of hte freeze plugs dont see why you couldnt make it work for that crack

I think you would have trouble using that kit right by the freeze plug. The freeze plug would want to leak, unless you took like a break hone, and then maybe use the next size large freeze plug.

Thats what i thought because it is right under the freeze plug all the examples on locknstichs website show a crack right in the middle of the block with nothing around i think the freeze plug would leak thats why i put a pic on here

Since the block is trash anyway just epoxy it, I think that would hold as well as anything.

I agree to give it try
I would probably take a grinder to the crack to make it a valley and either try to braze it or try exopy

Yeah at the very least it would slow the leak down. If you can at least slow it down, you can run it around while it drips.

im guessing it will be 6 months im saving cash up for it and its not like its my daily driver my I have a CR still

Clean it and rough it up with 80 grit stone (80grit cartridge roll will work but you have to make the area really rough so the epoxy can anchor), wash with acetone & blow dry. Apply Devcon 2500psi epoxy and give it 24 hours to set.

Silver solder is another option,

I'd drill a hole just after the crack and use the epoxy or just weld it.

After the fix a little mendtite (may be miss spelled) would stop the small leaks.

probably drive it mostly cant decide which truck would be a better puller i would really like to be able to drive it since it will get better mileage and keep miles off the commonrail
