My buddys 02 cummins blew the freeze plug out of the back of his block and blew a head gasket, this happend while spraying nos. we pulled the head, the first thing we noticed was aluminum melted to the #6 piston and that the piston was cocked on an angle. after looking at the other pistons we noticed that the #1 and #2 pistons had marks were the intake valves were touching the pistons. now looking at the head you can see no noticable damage to the valves on 1 and 2 but #6 are all covered in little pieces of aluminum and theres alot of carbon build up. after closer inspection you can see that the all of the intake valves closest to the intake manifold have cracks that come from the valve seat towards the injector tip, all but #6.
the gasket blew out the very back of the head.:nos:
Would like some input
has anyone ever seen or heard of this and what would cause it?
im guessing that #6 piston broke due to high EGTs and has been this way for some time. the cracks im unsure of, the head has been ported (maybe to much?)
