I cracked my radiator today doing doughnuts in the snow. :bang It cracked the plastic on the driver's side about an 1" or so. I'm guessing that repairing it is out of the question. So does anyone know the best place to pick up a new or used radiator??

And lastly my Coolant over flow bottle doesn't have any coolant in it?? Shouldn't it have some in it?????

How in the poop did you pull that off Dave?

Doing Doughnuts at the UGA soccer parking lot. My buddy said everyone sliding down the hills stopped and slowly walked toward the parking lot with bulging eyes..... They were amazed at what a truck like that can do. So as I was leaving I figured I do it again. Next thing I know I see steam. Popped the hood and see the radiator fluid pissing out. My overflow bottle was dry as a bone.

I called The Jeff and he gave me some info. So I found a radiator and it will be here on wednesday. Too bad I can't put it in till this weekend back in MACON...I gotta limp this F'er home this coming Friday. SUCKS!!

Do they make anything that I can bond the crack with temporarily?????

If its plastic an epoxy should hold her till your new one shows up... just scuff it a bit and put it one when its warm(but not hot)

Had some Quick Steel for plastic in the garage actually. I slapped some all over it, so will see what happens....

itll prolly still seep around the epoxy, but better than a crack.

was it the body flex that cracked it?

Yea I am curious how you cracked it doing donuts?

I honestly have no clue. I mean the doughnuts were pretty badass....:kick: It didn't crack at the mount or anything of that nature. When I remove it I'll take a picture of the crack for yall to see. I had to loosen the intercooler mounts just so I could wedge my fingers back there to get to the crack.

I got a used rad too bad you aint closer! I have had very good luck with epoxy but I have always removed the rad, cleaned the area well and left it cure before installing it in the truck. Good Luck!!!!

I prefer synthetic. LOL LOL LOL

The green stuff will do ya just fine. 3 gallons of the green stuff, and 3 gallons of distilled water oughta do ya. Oh, don't know when the last time it was done but you might as well change the t-stat out while your in there.

Yeah, I saw where red can mix with most coolants. I'm going to pick some up in the AM and top it off so I can get to class.

Thanks for the info. I'm going to install the new radiator here in Athens instead of limping it back to Macon. I looked it over and it doesn't seem that hard at all to get it swapped out.

no, I mean while driving... if you're just limping the thing home and running empty, you're not going to need your full cooling capacity

Very true. It has to get me to and from class all week though..I don't like driving it like this.

Do yall think I could have messed something up in the motor? I noticed the steam while doing the doughnut, so I'm not sure how long it had been leaking because I was sling the truck all over the place. After I saw it I shut the truck down almost immediately. I just hope all my pistons are fine.

Also I found a radiator locally. I start tearing it down friday after lunch.

DO NOT USE DEXCOOL!!! (the red stuff), there have been issues with that coolant in the Cummins!! Just use the regular old green stuff and some water pump lube/corrosion inhibitor.

And Dave, you have some of the worst luck, I feel for ya bud.

This I know!! :bang:hehe:

Yeah, I went and got some Prestone 50/50 mix, the green stuff, to get me by for the rest of the week. I had to put a whole gallon and about a quart of another gallon in there. :kick:

New radiator is in. Did it this evening and it didn't take me not time at all. Just drained it, removed the hoses, unbolted the radiator shroud, unbolted the radiator and lifted it out then dropped the new one in and topped it off with coolant. So far it's working fine, but I haven't driven it much at all. Tomorrow I'll be driving it for about 2hours straight so I'll know only time will tell.

Thank yall for the help.
