The guys the drilled out there own cross over tubes, what kind of bit did you use for the edge filter? I took mine to a local machine shop and he is telling me the edge filter is to hard to drill out and he doent want to try it. Im gonna go pick them up and try myself i guess. I know some guys did it them selfs so the cant be that bad. Any thought there?

It`s not that the edge filter is hard , what happens is that when you drill into the edge filter it starts to spin with the bit and the bit will no longer cut. I can`t remember what size bit we used but it was the size of the opening in the crossover tube on the inlet end where the edge filter is. start to drill into it until the bit doesn`t cut anylonger and the edge filter starts to spin. Then take the tube out of the lathe ( Highly Recommended ) and with a very small punch from the injector side push them out. Some of mine blew out with the air hose, try that first.

Thanks ill try that and see how it goes. I just want to get the truck running so i can take it to the big shop to start welding on it and these tubes are holding me up.

where can a person get 0.093 tubes. and lines... i cant find a dealer yet...or a.web site. thanks.... i would reather buy then drill... but no harm in doing your self...good luck with the drilling tho..

Scheid Diesel has them and a few other places but i cant remember the names. There prices were all about the same s far as i found. I deal with scheids with most of my fueling needs.
I did get me tubes done tho, a few more parts and it will be running soon.

I would definitly go with Scheid. If you buy lines from some other places when you get them they will be in a Scheid box. I know of this happening several times. NE Smoker did your edge filters come out with air or another procedure? When you see these things you wonder how an engine can even run with them.

i used a .098 bit in a layth and when you drilled into the filter it poped out. it us just pressed into there. then we went a second time with a .098-.100 remer. worked good. smoother finish than my ones from Haisley. Hope that helps

I did the same But I used a 1/4" bit .125....

Yea we went into the edge filter with a carbide bit about a 1/4 and it would spin and stick on the bit. Went the first one came out i couldnt believe how long it was. They gotta be 3/4s of an inch. After we got them out we ran a reamer threw them, .098 or so.

Does everyone use a lathe? I was going to try a drillpress, anyone see an issue?

a lathe is perfectuly true every time. thats why i used it. drill press maby if you have a good base, a mill would be the next best thing. S$$$ use a vice and a dewalt if you are good enough:umno: :badidea:

so after a pearson drills them out... what will this doo.. make it loap... or what... is there a write up.. some where... thanks guys.. you all have been very helpfull..

Supposedly gives you better fuel flow and more power but the problem is is that the VP doesn't have enough pressure/flow to fill the bigger tubes (don't even think of running the lines) so it can cause a lope and loss of power. The guy who I got my tubes from said anything over .078 (factory line size) is to much for the VP to handle and he doesn't really recommend going over that unless you are going to a big pump.

i used a vice and a drill, i dont remember what size but it was a the biggest i could go without messing up the sealing surface where it meets the injector. once you drill into that little filter it will come out. BgBlDodge is right about big tubes with a vp. you will lose power and will get a lope. I drilled mine and i dont have a lope but i also have a 913 instead of a vp. sometimes more fuel isnt always better in some cases. thats just my 2 cents from what i have seen.
