Cruise surge video

Nate: Have you tried the new Smarty Revo software?

I won't say that mine has completely stopped surging, but the new software has REALLY helped with the surge.

Yes, that is with the Smarty Revo.

I'm making a trip to Alaska in December and I'm really thinking of putting the RV275 injectors back in so I can use cruise.

Well, I kind of doubt that it is the injectors.

Mine surges pretty good on the stock injectors. I'm just about as frustrated by it as you.. And you know what it's like living in Idaho, trying to go ANYWHERE (2-3 hours in any direction), and not being able to use the cruise.

Mine does fine on flat ground now with the Revo. But if I start getting in any hills, it goes nuts.

The best setting I found on the Smarty for cruise was the highest TQ management, highest Duration, and highest Timing. That gave me the least surge, but I didn't like how the engine sounded going up hills with all the timing.

You mentioned that you tried the wd-40 stick.. That was the next idea I was going to toss out. I have a friend that once took an adjustable air valve from an aquarium and tried using it. He said that he was able to adjust some of the surge out of the cruise control, but the defrost stopped working! I'm thinking that this MIGHT be the next option to try. With enough time, I think you could find the sweet spot..

Good video though. Really shoes what we all go through. :(

my truck only surges with the smarty or any other programming on. I use to set my edge on a lower level and it would not do it. I dont even use the cruise anymore cause it is horrible will my set up now.

It wasn't an issue with the RV275 injectors actually. If I put the Smarty on #9 with those injectors, it would do it as bad as the Mach 4s and stock programming though.

Mine has done it since the DDIII's went in, I've put the straw in and might try a flow control next.

MD, I get the best results in hills or towing, unloaded on flat ground? Forget it! :bang

Wow. That is really weird.

I was expecting a little more rhyme and reason to it.

Have you guys tried re-setting the cruise control? I will need to look up the exact process, but from memory it goes something like:

1: Turn the cruise on, then off, on, then off 15 times.
2: Get to the exact speed you want to set the cruise at.
3: Set the cruise and see if it surges.
4: The second it surges, turn it off. Then turn it back on again.
5: Get to the same speed, and set again.

Basically, you keep doing that until it stops that initial big surge when you first set the cruise. I know that I tried it on mine when it first started surging and it really helped, although nothing has fixed it.

Been there, done that so much the @(^&@^&(*&^*@&^# buttons on the wheel are worn :bang

I'm thinking solenoid clamped throttle cable tied into the brake switch.

HA!

Just take a stick and put it between the seat and the throttle.. Then you can edge the seat forward until you reach the desired speed.

Should work even better with a power seat!

I'm glad it's not just my truck then... was thinking maybe something was messed up.

Manual seats and my stumpy arse sits so close to the wheel anyway there ain't much room left! LOL

Dang. I'm only 5' 10" and I have the seat all the way back in all 4 of my vehicles.

Nate you should ride in my truck it does it tooo and it's horrible... I take the smarty off and it's gone???

Nate. mine is horrible cant hardly use it! blacks out the highway on and off on and off. goes from 0 lbs boost to 10lbs non stop! max heard of a little trick! might work i havent tried it. take one of those straws off of like a wd40 can and put it in the vacume line off of the cruise control dilly majiger! Supossably cuts the vacume down a little
