So maybe I'm just driving myself nuts it wouldn't be the first time but for the last week and a half I've noticed my truck being a little louder cruising the freeway at 70 MPH. I starting watching my RPM's and they seem a little higher then usual at just over 2000 at 70 MPH I swear they were lower then that around 1600 or so. I'm burning through more fuel then normal as well. I think my TC is not locking up like it should be so the motor is spinning faster then the trans. Am I on the right track or am I just driving myself nuts. What is everybody's RPM's at 70?

In stock trim (4wd, auto), my dad's 06 is right around 2k at or around 70. Did you try easing the throttle down some to see if it is in fact unlocked?

I've got the stock 3.73's with 37's. Yeah I've tried letting off a little to see of it changes. If I mash it to get around somebody it just doesn't feel like it did a week ago it seems like its a little sluggish when before it would put me in my seat a little. It's got a ATS 5 star, shift kit and the suncoast extreme kit for internals. Like I said I could just be driving myself nuts ill hear one little thing on my truck that I didn't pay attention to before then focus on it and think I messed something up again. And it seems to be running a little hotter on the freeway then it did before. I could watch the trans cool off while cruising now it seems to heat up a little more and stay there.

When was the last service done? Just thinking of simple things before big things, ya know?

I'm at 2000rpm at 65!? Tires are a 225 75r 19.5 At 70 I'm at 2300. temps are a good indicator of tranny condition! Slipping creates heat! Pull the oil and see how it looks. High temps in the winter are a bad sign! I never even see the needle move on 50 mile trips I have two temp sensors one in the pan and one in the line going to the coolers. Do you have a TC lock up switch? How about a pressure guage for the tranny? Easy to put one on temporary and drive around!

With tires 36.78"'s tall and 3.73 gears you should be spinning 1650rpm at 70mph.

2000rpm would be 85mph if your locked in fourth gear.

2000rpm would be 59mph if your locked in third gear.

Id say your right about it not locking up in fourth gear.

If you hit the throttle little while cruising do the rpm's go up or stay the same and accelerate?

If I lightly push on the throttle the RPM's go up a little with no increase in speed. I can tell its not locking up when I get on the throttle it just doesn't have to "GO" it had before and my temps are getting a lot hotter then they did before.
