Anyone have any thoughts or experience with a cryogenically tempered input shaft?

Cryo a stock input? Cryo a billet input?

I have no idea as to the material properties of the stock pieces and their austenite content.

Would it become too brittle and shatter?

Just a thought out loud....

What I have read to date is that we are transforming increasing the martensite in the steel. We trade toughness for hardness and strength....

This was tried years ago prior to billet shafts availability, and no durability increase was achieved. Just as with the OEM shafts some broke while others held and at the same rate. This was also at a time when HP levels were much lower than now.

While a shaft is not cheap they are a lot cheaper than the price of R&R the part and fix any broken parts due to its failure.
