Just got my 99 cummins running again. at first it was a pain to start and i just thought it was cause it had been sitting for a while. Drove it around for about 30 minutes, went to start it again and all it did was crank over for like 10 seconds then started. Put a brand new crankshaft position sensor in and still no luck. Then i did a camshaft position sensor and still no luck, and still have no rpms and its slow as a turtle. Any suggestions? Maybe the wire-ring job http://www.competitiondiesel.com/forums/images/smilies/banging.gif

Check for codes, it could be several things. Vp and apps would be my first thought. White smoke at start up?

map could be unplugged or bad. mine was slow andbarely got abpve 2k RPM. it threw a map code though

check th lift pump.. the vp does not do well when it has to suck fuel....

I have already changed injection pump ( Ive got two) and still no power or RPMS. It is not throwing a MAP code but i have yet to check that. It is only giving me a Crank shaft sensor code and I've got the brand new one in. Also i have a FASS DDRP just the replacement lift pump but it is flowing enough fuel. And there is not any white smoke at all during start up?

Has it died on you at all while driving like under acceleration or sputtered? Check fuel pressure coming off that fass after checking codes

Truck has never died on me once i get it running.. every morning it takes two cranks no matter what to get it started. But no the truck has never died or even went low on RPMS (even though i dont have any) but i can hear the truck fine and it never dies

Does it act like it has no fuel going to it while cranking? Does it sound weird?

No, It sounds perfectly fine while it is cranking over. And it get plenty of fuel cause i have my lift pump on a switch.

I understand that the lift pump is cycling and you have it mounted on a switch. but you really should see how much fuel pressure is actually going to your lift pump. It kind of odd you arent seeing any type of codes. I wouldnt rule out the ip. Its a vp truck. they do weird sh!t. Plus i dont know that many people have had good luck with the ddrp.

yea im thinking maybe i should get a bigger pump. like a fass 150 or airdog 2 150.. yea ill have to check the fuel pressure
