I have few questions about firerings:

What the reason why some cut crooves for o-rings to cyl.head and few like to cut cylinder block ?

Heasley offer different size o-rings (mild steel size from 0.105 up to 0.125) : http://www.haisleymachine.com/Head%20Gaskets%20&%20Studs.htm , but http://www.cumminsracing.com/ uses 0.041 stainless-steel fire rings.

Whats the benefit mild steel versus stainless steel?

Do I have to cut crooves to block and cyl. head ?

Please give me for information about firerings and how to make them?

If this information is not forum friendly :poke: , send me PM!

Firerings = cutting out the stock firerings on the gasket and replacing them with square o-rings that are cut into the block, head or both.

O-rings compress the stock firering to add additional sealing. I would recommend o-rings since the tolerances can be a bit looser and, since the groove is further away from the cylinder hole, you run less risk of fire trenching into the groove.
