I just recently bought a a 1977 ford F-350 that has a weak 400 and auto tranny. Thinking about swapping out for a p-pump cummins and an auto, just need some tips and possibly some estimates on money, that includes motor and tranny. Also thinking about using VE cummins instead of p-pump because of price.

Talk to redstroke on here...He did a cummins conversion into a 79'. He'll have some sort of an idea.

Where did you find a 77 f350? Good price? If you take the drivetrain out pm me.

Look for a complete truck and make it easier on yourself. There has been a few wrecked 2nd gens for sale lately. Of course not real close to us.
I believe you can do it for a fairly reasonable price if you can find a beat up 1st gen for the swap. You already have the axles you need in the truck. Keep an eye out in the Kansas craigslists. I have seen some good deals on 1st gens on there.

Price depends on how much power you want the truck to have.
Good luck.
Take pictures.

i paid $500 foe the truck, needs some cab work, and interior work, the drive train is in good shape so im gonna try to find a wrecked 2nd gen 2wd for salvage.
